Executive Chef and Owner Mark Henegan

I came into the world smiling on June 10th, 1968. 

Growing up in South Africa bred a man of conviction, strength and compassion with, above all, a deep love for all humanity. At the age of 18, I was the youngest pianist for Southern Suns Hotels. Then joined many New York City top restaurants including Bayard and IL Buco.

In 1999 I opened highly acclaimed MADIBA in Brooklyn and for 20 years served the likes of Archbishop Desmond Tutu. South African Consulate/Tourism. Sir Richard Branson, Paul Simon, Jay Z, Beyonce, The United Nations HBO Films. Ubuntu Education Fund, Lalela Project.

Our Food

The Bush Farmhouse is about blending local ingredients with South African-inspired food and drink. We source quality meat, preparing them with fresh and organic produce from our on-site garden and greenhouse.
